SENIOR MINING ENGINEER - LONG TERM PLANNING
Reporting to the Chief Mining Engineer we seek to appoint a Senior Mining Engineer - Long Term Planning at our Buzwagi Mine site.
The position is a senior professional accountable for ensuring that long term plans, production schedules and designs are delivered timely and meet Barrick requirements and standards.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensuring that working conditions are in compliance with Tanzanian Mining Regulations , Act and Barrick Health Safety and Environmental site requirements
• Leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards that exceed world industry standards and any applicable legislation and achieve Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate.
• Providing the technical leadership to the more junior company employees and Contractors.
• Undertake open pit optimisation, design pit and dumps to Barrick standards and requirements.
• Assist in the timely preparation of Mine Budgets and Life of the Mine Plans (LOM) to meet advised deadlines.
• Assist in the estimation of mid and end of the year Ore Reserves and reports.
• Prepare Mine Forecasts, monthly Mine Plans, Statistics and Reports
• Undertake Ore Reserves reconciliation in conjunction with Geology, Metallurgy and Senior Mining Engineer – Production.
• Be pro-active in all aspects of operation safety, efficient utilisation of resources, Continuous Improvement ideas and Projects; and encourage teamwork across the departments
• Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfill the overall business objective.
• Take part in Succession Planning within the Mining Team to ensure progressive development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability.
• Manage business decisions and transaction in compliance to the Company Code of Ethics.
• Deputise for the Chief Mine Engineer as required.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• A minimum qualification of a diploma in Engineering.
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 6 years in the Mining Industry of which at least 5 years needs to have been recently in Open Pit Mine Planning.
• Ability and experience in coaching and mentoring subordinate personnel to ensure consistent levels of service are achieved
• Working knowledge of DATAMINE, SURPAC, WHITTLE, XERAS, XPAC TALPAC, MINE-24D ,EPS and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in the English language.
