Earth Sciences Institute of Shinyanga (ESIS) is a newly established private Technical Institution registered by the National Council for Technical Education of Tanzania (NACTE).
The
establishment of ESIS aims affirmatively at complementing the
Government’s effort of improving the mining sector and hence
contributing to the national economy. ESIS’s mission is to train
mid-cadre technicians who are vastly required by the fast growing mining
industry in Tanzania and elsewhere. Initially, ESIS will focus on
Exploration and mining geology with future extension to Mineral
Processing and Gemology
With intention to impart the most practical knowledge to its students, ESIS classes and dormitories are located within the mining premises of Williamson Diamond Limited in Shinyanga. Its head office is located at Ndala in Shinyanga Municipality.
ESIS is looking for suitably qualified, dynamic and creative Tanzanian citizens who are performance-driven to fill the following vacant posts:-
Title of the Post: Tutor
Number of Posts: 2
Reporting to: Senior Tutor
Duty Station: Mwadui, Shinyanga.
Terms of Service: Two (2) years contract renewable
Qualification and Experience:
Holder of a degree in geology or geo-sciences from a recognized institution. Must be computer literate with good command in English language. A Masters degree in the related field will be an added advantage.

Team player with the ability to work independently.
High level of integrity, honest and sense of responsibility.
Self motivated and able to endure long working hours in new challenging environments.
Committed to deliver work of a high standard.
High level administrative skills.
Demonstrate high level of customer care skills
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Tutor will be responsible in particular for:-
(i) Teaching geology courses at National Technical Awards (NTA) Level 4 to 6 (i.e. Basic Technician Certificate level to Diploma level) but can assist teaching in higher NTA levels
(ii) Conduct examinations up to NTA Level 7.
(iii) Assist in conducting researches and consultancies.
(iv) Assist in development and review of curricula.
(v) Prepare learning resources.
(vi) Assume leadership roles.
(vii) Supervise and assist junior teaching staff.
(viii) Assist students in their practical projects.
(ix) Prepare and submit to the supervisor monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports
(x) Carrying out other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
